On the final night of the Time I Am sessions at Pachyderm Studios in Minnesota, the room where Nirvana cut In Utero, we killed the lights, let the full moon pour through, and lit dozens of candles scattered throughout the live room. Then we rolled tape and played: a seventeen-minute live journey into the Maha Mantra, in one take. Nothing like it had ever been done.
The track has been kept in the vault for many years. Now, as Dust of Vraj sets out again, the vault is open, and Maharaj is the first epic live studio psychedelic rock journey of its kind to drop into the world.
